I wanted to make sure there was something for everyone in these 12 days of reviews, so I decided to pick an apple cider.
On the fifth day of Beermas……
Brewed by: Woodchuck Hard Cider
ABV: 5%
Purchased: Burby and Bates, Orono Maine
Woodchuck winter pours a light amber color; it is crystal clear in the glass. There is no head and just a slow visible carbonation.
The smell is very clean, full of crisp apple and a hint of oak.
First taste has a nice burst of apple sweetness up front that is chased by a nice tart finish. There is a light oak flavor that is almost an afterthought, it just seems to mingle in the background but I feel it smooth’s out the sweet/tart flavors nicely.
Overall a nice drinking cider, I really enjoy the fresh tart apple flavors and the oak is excellent in this, it can be a strong flavor but I feel it’s really well done. If you are a fan of cider or maybe you want to take a break from beer and try something different or you are gluten intolerant and looking for a gluten free option, this is a really tasty cider and I would recommend it to anyone.
Cheers!
