Coaster Critique: Black Bear Microbrew Bike Maine Brown Ale

Name: Bike Maine Brown

Brewed By: Black Bear Microbrew

ABV: 5.2%

Style: American Brown

Purchased: Black Bear Microbrewery Taproom

Bike Maine Brown poured a mahogany color, deep brown with red highlights when held to the light, no head, this was a full pint.

Nice malty aroma, dark roasted grains, hints of chocolate. The hops mingle in the background adding a hint of citrus.

Flavor follows the nose, roasted grains, and note of chocolate, a little bit of sweetness. Bike Maine is an American Brown so the hops have a notable presence in the flavor; they add a citrusy bite and a nice mellow bitterness.

Overall a really nice American Brown, big malty flavors balanced perfectly with citrusy hops. This beer will be available at the Black Bear Microbrew Taproom, The Family Dog and at the Beer and Music Festival Presented by the Family Dog this Saturday, September 7th in Orono.

Cheers!
