Coaster Critique: Rogue, Santa’s Private Reserve Ale

On the Fourth day of Beermas….

Name: Santa’s Private Reserve Santas PourAle

Brewed By: Rogue Ales

Style: Amber Ale

ABV: 6%

Pours a deep reddish-amber color with a frothy, off white head that leaves a heavy lacing down the glass.

Smells of baked bread, some light piney hop notes and a touch of citrus.

Big roasty malt body up front and a hop heavy finish. The hops are slightly citrusy at mid sip but the finish is very woodsy, earthy, like a mouthful of pine needles. Medium bodied, mellow carbonation and a bitter dry finish.

Overall I’m happy with this beer, the bitterness is on point, like a more aggressive English bitter and the big piney flavor is nice, sort of puts me in the mood to decorate a Christmas tree.

Cheers!
