Coaster Critique: Long Trail Brewing Summer Ale

Name: Summer AleIMG_5505

Brewed By: Long Trail Brewing Company

Style: Summer Seasonal

ABV: 4.3%

Long Trail Summer Ale pours a slightly hazy, bright golden color that shimmers in the light. Pour produced a short, pure white head that hung around for the entire glass.

A clean smelling beer, malt has a light toasted grain aroma. Hops smell a bit spicy with a touch of grassiness.

Initial sip brings a light cracker malt body with a bit of sweetness that dries out quickly. Mid sip the hops are presented with an earthy, slightly spicy bite and just a hint of lemon. Medium body, with a light carbonation and a crisp dry finish.

Overall a beer to be enjoyed on a hot day, Long Trail Summer Ale is crisp, clean and flavorful. I enjoyed the balanced hoppiness of this beer, the slightly spicy hops with just a hint of citrus played well with the light malt body without imparting excessive bitterness, this plus the fact it’s a sessionable 4.3% ABV make me want to kick back and have a couple of them. Pick this one up for an afternoon at the lake or find it on tap and enjoy it out on the deck.

Cheers!
