14 Breweries lined up for inaugural brewfest in Old Town

I’ll be honest, when I heard the Old Town Elks Club was hosting a brewfest I was a bit skeptical, it seems everyone is attempting a brewfest these days, but I paid the Elks a visit recently to find out what they are planning and this festival seems to have potential.

Elks

The Brewfest is happening on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at the Elks Lodge at 37 Fourth Street in Old Town. The event will be held on the top floor of the Lodge, one large event space will have breweries set up serving samples, in the center of the building is the kitchen, food will be available at this fest and while the bar will be shut down that room will also be open to serve as a place to sit and eat, socialize and listen to live music.

I was interested in knowing why the Elks decided to host a brewfest, Randal Bickford who is heading up the brewfest informed me that all of the money raised by the brewfest will go into the Elks Charity fund. The Old Town Elks Club is a nonprofit organization that donates to local charities, the Maine Youth Fish and Game and Old Town High School Project Graduation are a  couple notable ones, they also identify local residents who find themselves in need and assist them with medical bills, rent and food in their time of distress.

Saturday, February 6, 2016 – Old Town Elks Club, 37 Fourth Street, Old Town

VIP Session 12-1pm – tickets are $30 and food is half price

General Admission 1-5pm – Tickets are $25

Designated Drivers tickets are $10

Breweries attending:

Central Street Farmhouse will be on hand with items for sale and chatting about homebrewing, Live Music will be performed by Kevin Hamel from 1-4pm.

Since I live in Old Town and can walk to this fest I think I’ll pick up a ticket, sipping beers and chatting with brewers sounds like a good way to spend a Saturday in February.

Cheers,

Chaddah
